1595. These spirits are not satisfied with what they understand, or with what it is enough to understand, but try persistently to penetrate the most secret subjects. They are like some on earth who are not at all content in learning what faith, charity, the fruits of faith are, and how one should live, but try to penetrate Divine mysteries, and in fact, not the innermost, but the supreme mysteries, namely, those which the union of the Son and His Father [conceals within it].
