This all leads to the conclusion that spirits retain whatever they hear much more readily than people on earth, although they are not aware they are retaining them, for thus is the inward memory formed, the person not knowing. And the purer the angels are, the more readily and completely do they retain them, so that no mental image passes away. This is evident from those who judge so promptly about all and the least things, which cannot be done unless they retain them. 1748, 21 Sept.
