There are those who complete a gyre without a sign of any partition. There are those who go through and terminate a gyre in two parts - so that the beats, as it were, heard in a whirling movement may be threefold, fourfold, fivefold. There are those who reach six quite perceptible beats in each whirling movement, which is so fast, that one whirling movement scarcely lasts one second. 1748, the 27th day of January.
