500. And the seven angels having the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.- That this signifies changes taking place in their order by influx out of heaven, is evident from the signification of the seven angels who stood before God, as denoting the heavens conjoined to the Lord more interiorly and closely, concerning which see above (n. 488). And from the signification of sounding the trumpets, as denoting influx, and consequently changes of state and separations, concerning which also see above (n. 489). And because, in what now follows, the changes of state which take place from influxes out of heaven, are treated of in their order, therefore this is signified by the seven angels that had the seven trumpets preparing themselves to sound.
