273. Verse 7. And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him that sat upon the throne, signifies that the Lord as to His Divine Human is the Word, and this is from His Divine in Himself and that therefore He will execute judgment from His Divine Human. Here it manifestly appears, that "He that sat upon the throne" and "the Lamb" are one Person, and that by "Him that sat upon the throne" is meant His Divine from which all things are, and by "the Lamb," His Divine Human; for it is said in the preceding verse, that "he saw a Lamb standing in the midst of the throne," and in this, that "He took the book from Him that sat upon the throne." That the Lord will execute judgment from His Divine Human, because He is the Word, is evident from these passages:

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man; and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and glory (Matt. 24:30). When the Son of man shall sit on His throne He will judge the twelve tribes of Israel (Matt. 19:28). The Son of man shall come in the glory of His Father, and then shall He render to everyone according to his deeds (Matt. 16:27). Watch always, that ye may be accounted worthy to stand before the Son of man (Luke 21:36). In such an hour as ye think not, the Son of man cometh (Matt. 24:44). For the Father judgeth no one, but hath given all judgment unto the Son, because He is the Son of man (John 5:22, 27). "The Son of man" is the Lord as to the Divine Human, and this is the Word, which was God, and became flesh (John 1:1, 14).
