Since the correspondence of the heart and lungs with the will and understanding is treated of in the pages immediately following, and since the correspondence of all parts of the body, namely, the members, organs of sense, and viscera of the body, is founded upon this correspondence, and since the correspondence of natural things with spiritual has hitherto been unknown, and yet is amply set forth in two works, one of which treats of HEAVEN AND HELL, and the other, the ARCANA CAELESTIA, of the spiritual sense of the Word in Genesis and in Exodus, I will here indicate what has been written and shown in those two works regarding correspondence.
