4699. CONCERNING THE SPIRITS WITH MAN. I performed a certain action, and it was perceived, that it was with a gesture nearly like what a certain spirit employed when he was a man. I spoke with hi. He said, that he was not aware that [the gesture] was from him, but still that he observed that it was from hi. He was astonished. [I] then told others, that such was the case with spirits, who are with man, and that they were not aware of the fact that they act upon man. But he said that he did not seem to himself to act similarly, but that he did something else which corresponded; so that it [the gesture] inflowed by means of correspondence.
