93. (II.) At this day, in order that a man may be a man, he ought to be charity in form. It is said, at this day, because, in the process of time since the first creation, man has become external. For he has turned from love to the Lord to wisdom; has eaten of the tree of knowledge and of wisdom; and internal love is turned into external love.
