151. The chief essential of the Church is to know and acknowledge its God, for without this very essential there is no conjunction with God, thus no heaven and life eternal. The reason is because in the spiritual world thought and will have their conjunction with him who is regarded and loved. Thither he turns, and thence [are] all things of the man. Wherefore, the direction of the whole heaven is towards the Lord. Concerning which conjunction see the work HEAVEN AND HELL.
