159. In the doctrine of our faith it is also said that the Lord overcame death, and ascended with triumph into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father. What else is meant by death which He overcame and by triumph than the subjugation of the hells? For death signifies hell, because all who are there are called dead. And what is meant by sitting at the right hand of the Father, but the Divine Omnipotence? For how can the human which is not at the same time Divine sit at the right hand of the infinite Divine?
