84. The sin against the Holy Spirit is the denial of the Divine in the Word. For those who deny this deny secretly and in the heart, all things of heaven and the Church, for these are all from the Word. They even deny that the Lord is Divine. Wherefore, in the other life, all are taught that there is a spiritual sense in all and every particular of the Word, so that they may know and acknowledge the Word, and that they may not be led away by evil spirits by reason of all the passages of the Word which, in the sense of the letter appear paradoxical and as though they were not Divine.
