Arcana Coelestia (Elliott) n. 6271

6271. 'And his left hand on Manasseh's head' means that he considered good to occupy the second place. This is clear from the meaning of 'putting out his left hand' as considering it to occupy the second place; and from the representation of 'Manasseh' as the will, and so also the good of charity. For what is implied here, see just above in 6269.
