8636. No one is equipped to know about these all by himself, for a person apprehends only the things that present themselves to his senses. From his senses he has acquired an illumination, called natural light, in which he sees only the things that belong to the world and to self. He does not see those belonging to heaven or to God; these he must learn about from revelation.
