354. THAT SOULS AND SPIRITS SEEM TO BE TRANSPORTED FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER, AND SOMETIMES AS WITH THE SPEED OF A FLASH OF LIGHTNING It has been observed that souls and spirits are transferred upwards and downwards, also from one situation to another, sometimes in a moment, or the twinkling of an eye. But this is a fallacy of sense, like height and depth. The cause seems to be that the organism of man is such that it corresponds to the heavens, wherefore by certain changes corresponding to movements in space, such things appear in the heavens, and this on account of the correspondence; for the most part they are fallacies which reign, which are so many that they cannot be numbered, which causes even spirits to wonder. 1747, Dec. 15.
