983. CONCERNING THE SPIRITS WHO RELATE TO THE EXTERNAL LIGAMENTS All the viscera of the body, of whatsoever kind, have their own external ligaments by means of which there are communications, not only with their internal parts and indeed with the very least, as is evident, but also with those which are without, and especially with those which act in consort. The ligaments of the viscera in the body relate to general things, such as to the peritoneum, the pleura, the diaphragm, the mediastinum, the pericardium; but to describe the connections, and the communications and relations according to them, is a work of vast extent.
