It is a generally prevailing notion that souls will not be raised up out of their graves before the last judgment [John 5:28-9], when heaven and earth are to perish [Matt. 24:35, Mark 12:31, Luke 21:33], and that only then, all souls will stand before the judgment, and be judged, according to the literal statement in the Word of the Lord [Matt. 25:32]. The result of this notion is that hardly anyone believes in the resurrection, especially when they also believe that heaven and earth are not going to pass away, and also that there is still a very long time to the last day. In short, this opinion has put very many people to sleep.
