DEUTERONOMY 10

At that time Yehowah said to me, Hew two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain, and make an ark of wood. 2 Then I will write on the tablets the words which were on the first tablets which you broke, and you shall put them in the ark. 3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, and hewed two tablets of stone like the first, and climbed the mountain with the two tablets in my hands. 4 And he wrote on the tablets, as he had written at first, the ten commandments which Yehowah had declared to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly; and then Yehowah gave them to me. 5 And I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tablets in the ark which I had made; and there they are, as Yehowah commanded me.

6 Then the sons of Israel set out from the wells of Bene-jaaqan to Moserah; there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered as priest in his place. 7 From there they journeyed to Gudgodab, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of brooks of water. 8 At that time Yehowah separated the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of Yehowah, to stand before Yehowah so as to minister to him, and to bless in his name, even to this day. 9 Therefore Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers: Yehowah is his inheritance, as Yehowah your God promised him.

10 And I stayed on the mountain as at the first time, for forty days and forty nights; and Yehowah heard me at that time also; Yehowah would not destroy you. 11 And Yehowah said to me, Get up, set out before the people, so that they may go in to possess the land which I swore to their fathers to give to them.

12 And now, Israel, what does Yehowah your God require of you, but to fear Yehowah your God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Yehowah your God with all your heart and soul, 13 keeping Yehowah's commandments and statutes which I give, you today for your good? 14 See, heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and all that is in it, belong to Yehowah your God. 15 But Yehowah delighted to love your fathers, and he chose their descendants after them, even you, out of all peoples, as at this day. 16 Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiffnecked no longer. 17 For Yehowah your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the God who is great and mighty and to be feared, who does not favour individuals or take rewards, 18 who executes judgment for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the settler, giving him food and clothing. 19 So you shall love the settler, for you were settlers in the land of Egypt. 20 You shall fear Yehowah your God; you shall serve him, and cling to him, and swear by his name. 21 He is your praise and your God, who has done for you these great and terrible things which your eyes have seen. 22 Your fathers went down into Egypt with seventy people; and now Yehowah your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.
