713. 'And great Babylon came into remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the growing anger of His wrath' signifies the destruction also at that time of the dogmas of the Roman Catholic form of religion. By 'Babylon' as a city, as here, is signified that form of religion as to its dogmas and doctrinal tenets (n. 631). By 'to give unto her the cup of the wine of the growing anger of God's wrath' is signified to devastate until there is nothing but evil and untruth. That this is signified by 'the cup of the wine of the growing anger of God's wrath' may be seen above (n. 631, 632).
