4683. CONCERNING THE OPPOSITE POSITION OF ANGELS AND INTERNALS, IN RELATION TO EACH OTHER. All who are in the world of spirits appear before the eyes [of those there] as if having the head upward; but, still, in themselves, and according to angelic sight, the angels are in a perpendicular position, that is, with the head towards the Lord, who is in the highest, and whence is all position and situation: in this case, there is, as it were, a force acting from above to beneath. But the infernals, to the internal and angelic sight, are with the head towards hell, and the feet upwards; thus in an opposite position. So, in succession, even to an oblique direction, upwards and downwards; for the below of the infernals is the above of them [the angels], and the above of the angels is the below [of the infernals]: thus, all are inverted, successively, until they arrive at that position which is their normal one.)
