267. PROVIDENCE.

THE Lord's Government in heaven and on earth is called Providence; and since all the good which is of love and all the truth which is of faith, from which there is salvation, are from Him, and not at all from man, it is thence evident that the Lord's Divine Providence is in each and all things which conduce to the salvation of mankind. This is taught by the Lord in John: I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life" (xiv. 6). And again, "As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me: for without Me ye can do nothing" (xv. 4, 5).
