31. And also in the Athanasian Creed: "He ascended to the heavens; He sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty: from whence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead and they shall give account of their own deeds. And they that have done goods shall go into eternal life: and they that have done evils into eternal fire" (Formula Concordiae [Leipsic, 1756], pp. 1, 2, 4). Besides, the Schmalkaldic Articles teach the same thing as the Apostles', the Nicene, and the Athanasian creeds; namely, "Jesus Christ ascended to the heavens; He sitteth at the right hand of God, . . . He shall come to judge the quick and the dead"; and our Catechism [the one used in Sweden] teaches the same (p. 303). From the Augsburg Confession in like manner, "He ascended to the heavens, that He might sit at the right hand of the Father, and reign forever, and exercise dominion over all creatures. . . . The same Christ will openly return to judge the quick and the dead, according to the Apostles' Creed" (Formula Concordiae, p. 10). Luther teaches the same (in the Lesser Catechism, p. 371; Augsburg Confession, pp. 10, 14).
