LEVITICUS 12

Now Yehowah spoke to Moses, and said, 2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and say, If a woman conceives and bears a male child, she shall be unclean for seven days; she shall be unclean as at the time of her menstruation.* 3 And the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised on the eighth day. 4 And for thirty-three days she shall continue in the blood of her purifying; she shall not touch any holy thing nor come to the sanctuary till the days of her purifying have been fulfilled. 5 But if she bears a female child, she shall be unclean for two weeks as in her impurity; and for sixty-six days she shall continue in the blood of her purifying. * lit the impurity of her sickness

6 And when the days of her purifying have been fulfilled for a son or a daughter, she shall bring to the door of the tent of meeting, to the priest, a lamb in its first year for a burnt-offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin-offering. 7 And he shall offer it before Yehowah, and make a reconciliation for her; and she shall be cleansed from the flow of her blood. This is the law for a woman who gives birth to a male or a female. 8 But if she cannot afford a lamb, she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt-offering and the other for a sin-offering; and the priest shall make a reconciliation for her, and she shall become clean.
