LEVITICUS 22
Then Yehowah spoke to Moses, and said, 2 Tell Aaron and his sons to separate themselves on account of the holy things of the sons of Israel which they sanctify to me, so that they do not defile my holy name; I am Yehowah. 3 Say to them, Throughout your generations, if any unclean man of any of your descendants approaches the holy things which the sons of Israel sanctify to Yehowah, that person shall be cut off from my presence; I am Yehowah, 4 Any man of the descendants of Aaron who has a defilement or a discharge shall not eat any of the holy things till he is clean. And whoever touches anything unclean by a dead body, or touches a man with an emission of semen, 5 or whoever touches any swarming thing by which one is made unclean, or touches a man by whom one may be made unclean (no matter what uncleanness that man has), 6 the person who has touched any of these shall be unclean till the evening; and he shall not eat any of the holy things unless he bathes his body in water. 7 Only when the sun has gone down shall he be clean; and afterwards he may eat the holy things, because it is his food. 8 He shall not eat what dies naturally, or is torn to death, or he would defile himself with it; I am Yehowah. 9 They shall therefore perform my duties, and shall not bear sin for them, and die for them, if they profane them; I, Yehowah, sanctify them.
10 No outsider shall eat any holy thing; no guest of a priest nor any hired servant shall eat any holy thing. 11 But if the priest buys a person, purchased with silver, he may eat of it; also, those who are born in his house may eat of his food. 12 And if a priest's daughter is married to an outsider, she may not eat any of the reserved-offering of the holy things. 13 But if the priest's daughter is a widow or divorced, and has no descendants, and has returned to her father's house as in her youth, she may eat of her father's food; but no outsider shall eat of it. 14 But should a man eat any holy thing inadvertently, he shall add a fifth to it, and give the holy thing to the priest. 15 For they shall not defile the holy things of the sons of Israel which they present to Yehowah, 16 and so cause themselves to bear the iniquity of guilt when they eat their holy things; for I, Yehowah, sanctify them.
17 And Yehowah spoke to Moses, and said, 18 Speak to Aaron and his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them, When one of the house of Israel, or one of the settlers in Israel, presents his gifts for all their vow-offerings and their freewill-offerings which they present to Yehowah for a burnt-offering, 19 in order that you may be accepted, it shall be a male without a blemish, from the herd, the sheep, or the goats. 20 You shall not offer anything which has a blemish in it, for it will not be acceptable for you. 21 And whoever offers a sacrifice of communion-offerings to Yehowah, to dedicate a vow-offering or a freewill-offering, from the herd or the sheep, to be accepted it must be without a blemish; there shall be no blemish in it. 22 Animals blind, broken, or maimed, or having a sore, or scurvy or scabbed ones, you shall not present to Yehowah, nor give them as a fire-offering to Yehowah on the altar. 23 Yet you may present for a freewill-offering a bull or a lamb which has a leg too long or too short; but it shall not be accepted for a vow-offering. 24 You shall not offer to Yehowah what is bruised, crushed, broken, or cut; you shall not offer them anywhere in your land. 25 Nor shall you offer the food of your God of any of these from the hand of a foreigner. Because they have a disfigurement, there is a blemish in them; they shall not be accepted for you.
26 And Yehowah spoke to Moses, and said, 27 When a bull, a sheep, or a goat is born, for seven days it shall be under its mother; but from the eighth day onwards it may be accepted as a gift of a fire-offering to Yehowah. 28 And you shall not slaughter a cow or a ewe together with its young on the same day. 29 And when you offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to Yehowah, you shall offer it acceptably. 30 It shall be eaten that very day; you shall leave none of it till the morning; I am Yehowah.
31 So you shall keep my commandments and observe them; I am Yehowah. 32 And you shall not defile my holy name, for I will be sanctified among the sons of Israel; I, Yehowah, sanctify you, 33 who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God; I am Yehowah.
