Now men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them. 2 And the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair, and they took for themselves wives of all whom they chose.

3 Then Yehowah said, My spirit shall not reprove man for ever, since he is flesh; and his days shall be a hundred and twenty years. 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterwards, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, who bore children to them; they were the mighty men who from of old were infamous.* * lit men of the name

5 And Yehowah saw that the evil of man had increased on the earth, and that all the imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. 6 And Yehowah repented that he had made man on the earth, and he was grieved in his heart. 7 And Yehowah said, I will wipe out man whom I have created from the face of the ground; both man and beast, and creeping things and birds of the heavens; for I have repented that I made them. 8 But Noah found favour in the eyes of Yehowah.

9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a just man; he was perfect in his generation; Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah was the father of three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 And the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 And God saw the earth, and how it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth.

13 And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh has come before me, for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and see, I am about to destroy them with the earth. 14 Make an ark of gopher wood; make the ark with rooms, and cover it inside and out with bitumen. 15 And this is how you shall make it: three hundred cubits the length of the ark, fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height. 16 You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit above; and you shall set the door of the ark in the side of it; with lowest, second, and third stories you shall make it. 17 And I am about to bring a flood of waters on the earth, to destroy from under the heavens all the flesh in which is the spirit of life. Everything on the earth shall expire. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall come into the ark, you and your sons, and your wife and your sons' wives with you. 19 And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring pairs of all into the ark, to keep them alive with you; male and female they shall be. 20 Of the birds according to their kinds, and of the animals according to their kinds, of every creeping thing of the ground according to its kind: pairs of all shall come in to you, to keep them alive. 21 And take for yourself every kind of food that is eaten, and gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and them. 22 And Noah did so; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.
