LEVITICUS 5

And if any person sins in that he hears a call to testify,* and was a witness of something he had seen or come to know, but does not declare it, then he shall bear his iniquity; 2 or if any person touches any unclean thing, whether the carcass of an unclean wild animal, or the carcass of some unclean cattle, or the carcass of any unclean swarming thing, and it is hidden from him, he also shall be unclean and guilty; 3 or if he touches any uncleanness in a man, whatever the uncleanness by which he is made unclean, and it is hidden from him, then when he knows it he shall be guilty; 4 or if any person swears, speaking heedlessly with his lips either to do evil or to do good, whatever it is that the man speaks heedlessly with an oath, and it is hidden from him, then when he knows it he shall be guilty in either of these things. 5 Then when he is guilty in any of these, he shall confess that he has sinned in that matter; 6 and he shall bring to Yehowah as his guilt-offering for the sin which he has committed a female from the flock, a lamb, or a she-goat from the flock, for a sin-offering; and the priest shall make a reconciliation for him for his sin. * lit a voice of swearing

7 But if he cannot afford* a lamb,** he shall bring to Yehowah as his guilt-offering on account of the sin which he has committed two turtledoves or two young pigeons; one is for a sin-offering and the other for a burnt-offering. 8 And he shall bring them to the priest, who shall offer the one for the sin-offering first; and he shall wring its head from its neck but not detach it. 9 And he shall sprinkle some of the blood of the sin-offering against the wall of the altar, and the rest of the blood shall be pressed out at the base of the altar; it is a sin-offering. 10 And he shall make the second a burnt-offering according to the stated ritual; and the priest shall make a reconciliation for him on account of the sin which he has committed, and he shall be forgiven. * lit his hand does not reach to ** That is a lamb or a kid

11 But if he cannot afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, he shall bring as his gift on account of the sin which he has committed a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a sin-offering. He shall put no oil upon it, nor any frankincense upon it, for it is a sin-offering. 12 And he shall bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take a handful of it as a token of it, and shall burn this on the altar, upon the fire-offerings to Yehowah; it is a sin-offering. 13 And the priest shall make a reconciliation for him on account of the sin which he has committed in any of these things, and it shall be forgiven him; and the remainder shall be for the priest, as with the grain-offering.

14 Then Yehowah spoke to Moses, and said, 15 If any person commits a trespass, and sins inadvertently with regard to the holy things of Yehowah, he shall bring as his guilt-offering to Yehowah a ram without a blemish out of the flock, as valued by you in shekels of silver according to the shekel of the sanctuary; it is a guilt-offering. 16 And he shall make restitution to the extent that he has sinned in the holy thing, and shall add a fifth to it, and shall give it to the priest; and the priest shall make a reconciliation for him with the ram of the guilt-offering, and he shall be forgiven.

17 So if any person sins and acts against any of the commandments of Yehowah concerning what ought not to be done, though he does not know it, yet he is guilty, and shall bear his iniquity. 18 And he shall bring to the priest a ram without a blemish out of the flock, as valued by you for a guilt-offering; and the priest shall make a reconciliation for him on account of the error which he made inadvertently, and he shall be forgiven. 19 It is a guilt-offering; he is certainly guilty before Yehowah.
