4722. CONCERNING NATURALISTS. ((Under the left foot, a very little towards the left, are such as have ascribed all things to nature. It was examined whether they had believed there was any supreme deity, Creator of all things. But it was perceived, when the idea was presented to them, that, with them, it was, as it were, something inanimate, so that they had attributed nothing at all of life to Him; from which it could be manifest, that they had not acknowledged any Creator of the universe, but an utterly dead nature. They said, also, that they were unable to have the idea of a living deity.))
