DEUTERONOMY 24
If a man takes a wife and marries her, but she finds no favour in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a bill of divorce and puts it into her hand, and sends her out of his house, 2 and she departs from his house, and goes and becomes another man's wife, 3 and the second husband hates her, and writes her a bill of divorce and puts it into her hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the second husband who took her to be his wife should die, 4 then her first husband who sent her away may not take her back as his wife after she has been defiled, for that is abhorrent to Yehowah; and you shall not bring sin into the land which Yehowah your God gives you for an inheritance.
When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out with the army or be charged with any business; he shall be free at home for one year to be happy with his wife whom he has taken.
No man shall take a mill or an upper millstone in pledge; for he would be taking a life in pledge.
When a man is found stealing any of his brothers among the sons of Israel, and makes profit on him and sells him, then that thief shall die; so you shall purge this evil from your midst.
Take care in a plague of defiling skin-disease to observe carefully and do everything that the Levite priests teach you; you shall take care to do exactly as I commanded them. 9 Remember what Yehowah your God did to Miriam on the way when you came out of Egypt.
When you let your neighbour have anything on loan, you shall not go into his house to fetch his pledge. 11 You shall stand outside, and the man to whom you made the loan shall bring the pledge out to you. 12 And if the man is poor you shall not lie down with his pledge; 13 you must restore the pledge to him when the sun sets, so that he may lie down in his own clothing, and bless you; and it shall be righteousness in you before Yehowah your God.
You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of your settlers who are in your land within your gates; 15 when it is due you shall give him his hire, before the sun sets-for he is poor, and he sets his heart on it-lest he cries against you to Yehowah, and it is a sin in you.
Fathers shall not be put to death for sons, nor shall sons be put to death for fathers; a man shall be put to death for his own sin.
You shall not pervert the judgment due to the settler or the fatherless, nor shall you take a widow's clothing in pledge; 18 but you shall remember that you were slaves in Egypt, and Yehowah your God redeemed you from there; therefore I command you to do this thing.
When you reap your harvest in your field, and you forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to fetch it; it shall be for the settler, the fatherless, and the widow, so that Yehowah your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 20 When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the branches again; it shall be for the settler, the fatherless, and the widow. 21 When you gather from your vineyard, you shall not glean behind you; it shall be for the settler, the fatherless, and the widow. 22 And you shall remember that you were slaves in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing.
