So Israel set out with all that he had, and came to Beer-sheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. 2 And God spoke to Israel in visions in the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here I am. 3 And he said, I am God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. 4 I will go down with you to Egypt; and also I will certainly bring you back; and Joseph shall put his hand on your eyes. 5 And Jacob rose up from Beer-sheba; and the sons of Israel carried their father Jacob, their children, and their wives in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him. 6 And they took their cattle and their goods which they had gained in the land of Canaan, and came to Egypt, Jacob and all his offspring with him, 7 his Sons and his sons' sons with him, his daughters and his sons daughters; and he brought all his offspring with him into Egypt.

8 Now these are the names of the sons of Israel who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons. Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, 9 and the sons of Reuben: Hanokh, Pallu, Hezron, and Karmi. 10 And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jaklsin, Zollar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. 11 And the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohatll, and Merari. 12 And the sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan); and the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul. 13 And the sons of Issachar: Tola, Puwah, Job, and Shimron. 14 And the sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel. 15 These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, together with Dinah his daughter. All his sons and daughters were thirty-three persons.

16 And the sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, En, Arodi, and Areli. 17 And the sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishwah, Ishwi, and Beriah, with Serab their sister. And the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malkiel. 18 These are the sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Leah, and these she bore to Jacob, sixteen persons.

19 The sons of Rachel, Jacob's wife: Joseph and Benjamin. 20 And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath the daughter of Poti-phera the priest of On bore to him. 21 And the sons of Benjamin: Bela, Bekher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard. 22 These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob, fourteen persons in all. 25 And the son* of Dan: Hushim. 24 And the sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. 25 These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to his daughter Rachel, and these she bore to Jacob, seven persons in all. * lit sons

26 A11 the persons who came with Jacob into Egypt, who came out of his loins, besides the wives of Jacob's sons, were sixty-six persons in all; 27 and the sons of Joseph who were born to him in Egypt were two persons; all the persons of the house of Jacob who came into Egypt were seventy.

28 And he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to direct him to Goshen; and they came to the land of Goshen. 29 Then Joseph harnessed his chariot, and went up to meet his father Israel in Goshen, and he presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck for a long while. 30 And Israel said to Joseph, Now I can die, since I see your face and know that you are still alive. 31 And Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household, I will go up and tell Pharaoh, and say to him, My brothers and my father's household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me. 32 And the men are shepherds, for they are cattle-tenders, and they have brought their flocks and herds, and all that they possess. 33 And when Pharaoh calls you, and says, What is your occupation? 34 you shall say, Your servants have been cattle-tenders from our youth until now, as our fathers were-so that you may live in the land of Goshen; for all shepherds are abhorrent to the Egyptians.
