EXODUS 9

Then Yehowah said to Moses, Go to Pharaoh and tell him, Thus says Yehowah, the God of the Hebrews, Send my people away so that they may serve me. 2 For if you refuse to let them go, and still hold on to them, 3 then the hand of Yehowah will be on your cattle which are in the fields, the horses, the asses, the camels, the herds, and the flocks; there will be a very severe pestilence. 4 And Yehowah will distinguish between Israel's cattle and Egypt's cattle; and nothing will die of all that belongs to the Sons of Israel. 5 And Yehowah set a fixed time, and said, Tomorrow Yehowah will do this thing in the land. 6 Then Yehowah did that thing on the next day, and all the cattle of the Egyptians died; but not one of the cattle of the sons of Israel died. 7 And Pharaoh sent and found that not even one of the cattle of the Israelites was dead. But Pharaoh's heart remained stubborn, and he did not send the people away.

8 Then Yehowah said to Moses and Aaron, Take up handfuls of ashes from a furnace, and let Moses fling them towards heaven in the sight of Pharaoh. 9 And it shall become a fine dust on the entire land of Egypt, and become boils breaking out in blisters on both man and beast, throughout the entire land of Egypt. 10 So they took ashes from a furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses flung them towards heaven, and they became boils breaking out in blisters on both man and beast. 11 Now the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians and all the Egyptians.

12 But Yehowah made the heart of Pharaoh obstinate, and he would not listen to them, as Yehowah had said to Moses.

13 Then Yehowah said to Moses, Get up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh and say to him, Thus says Yehowah, the God of the Hebrews, Send my people away so that they may serve me. 14 For this time I will send all my plagues on your heart, and on your servants and your people, so that you may know that there is no one like me on all the earth. 15 For now I could stretch out my hand, and strike you and your people with pestilence, and you would be cut off from the earth. 16 But yet for this reason I have allowed you to stay, so as to show you my power, and so that my name may be declared throughout all the earth. 17 Do you still exalt yourself against my people, refusing to send them away! 18 Then tomorrow about this time I will send down a very heavy hail-storm, such as there has never been in Egypt since the day when it was founded, until now. 19 Therefore give orders to fetch your cattle and all that you have in the fields into safety. The hail shall come down on every man and beast found in the fields and not brought indoors, and they shall die. 20 Then whoever feared the word of Yehowah among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee indoors; 21 but whoever did not regard the word of Yehowah left his servants and his cattle in the fields.

22 And Yehowah said to Moses, Stretch out your hand towards heaven, so that there may be hail throughout the land of Egypt, on man and beast, and on every plant in the fields, throughout the land of Egypt. 23 Then Moses stretched out his rod towards heaven; and Yehowah sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth, and Yehowah rained hail on the land of Egypt. 24 And there was hail, and fire flashing in the midst of the hail, most severely, such as there had never been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 25 And throughout all the land of Egypt the hail struck down all that was in the fields, both man and beast, and the hail struck down every plant in the fields, and broke down every tree in the fields. 26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, was there no hail.

27 Then Pharaoh sent and summoned Moses and Aaron, and said to them, I have sinned this time; Yehowah is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. 28 Entreat Yehowah, for there has been enough of God's thunder and hail; and I will send you away, for you shall stay no longer. 29 And Moses said him, As soon as I have gone from the city, I will spread out my hands to Yehowah; the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, so that you may know that the earth is Yehowah's. 30 But as for you and your servants, I know that you will still have no fear of Yehowah God. 31 (And the flax and the barley were struck down; for the barley was in ear and the flax was ripe. 32 But the wheat and the spelt were not struck down, for they had not come up.) 33 And Moses went away from Pharaoh and out of the city, and spread out his hands to Yehowah; and the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured down on the earth. 34 But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned still more; and he made his heart stubborn, he and his servants. 35 So the heart of Pharaoh remained obstinate, and he would not send the sons of Israel away, as Yehowah had said by Moses.
