EXODUS 10

Then Yehowah said to Moses, Go to Pharaoh; for I have made his heart stubborn, and the hearts of his servants, so that I might show these signs of mine among them; 2 and so that you may recount to your son and your son's son the things which I have wrought in Egypt and the signs which I have shown among them; so that you may know that I am Yehowah.

3 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh, and said to him, Thus says Yehowah, the God of the Hebrews, How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Send my people away so that they may serve me. 4 Yet if you refuse to send my people away, then tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country. 5 And they will cover the surface of the land, so that no man will be able to see the land; and they will eat the residue of what has escaped, which remains to you from the hail, and will eat all your trees which grow in the fields. 6 And your houses will be filled, and the houses of all your servants and of all the Egyptians. Neither your fathers nor your fathers' fathers ever saw such a thing, from the day when they came on earth, until today. And he turned away and went out from Pharaoh.

7 And Pharaoh's servants said to him, How long shall this man be a snare to us? Send the men away so that they may serve Yehowah their God. Do you not realize that Egypt is perishing? 8 Then Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh, and he said to them, Go and serve Yehowah your God. But who are the ones who will be going? 9 And Moses said, We shall go with our young and our old. With our sons and our daughters, with our flocks and our herds we shall go; for we must hold a feast to Yehowah. 10 Then he said to them, So let Yehowah be with you, if I send you and your children away! See here, evil is in your mind. 11 No! You who are young men may go and serve Yehowah; for that is what you want. And Pharaoh drove them out from his presence.

12 Then Yehowah said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, so that they may come up over the land of Egypt and eat every plant in the land, all that the hail has left. 13 So Moses stretched out his rod over the land of Egypt, and Yehowah brought an east wind into the land all that day and all that night; and when it was morning the east wind brought the locusts. 14 And the locusts came over the whole land of Egypt, and settled throughout the country of Egypt, very severely; before this, there had never been such locusts as these, nor afterwards would there be any such again. 15 For they covered the surface of the whole land, and the land was darkened; and they ate every plant in the land, and all the fruit on the trees which the hail had left. And nothing green remained on the trees or on the plants in the fields, throughout the land of Egypt. 16 Then Pharaoh hastened to summon Moses and Aaron; and he said, I have sinned against Yehowah your God, and against you. 17 And now, please forgive my sin once again, and entreat Yehowah your God to remove this death from me. 18 So he went out from Pharaoh, and entreated Yehowah. 19 And Yehowah turned a very strong west wind, which lifted the locusts and drove them into the Sea of Reeds;* not one locust remained in all the country of Egypt. 20 Yet Yehowah made Pharaoh's heart obstinate, and he did not send the sons of Israel away. * Traditionally Red Sea

21 Then Yehowah said to Moses, Stretch out your hand towards heaven so that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, so that one will grope in the darkness. 22 So Moses stretched out his hand towards heaven; and there was pitch darkness throughout the land of Egypt for three days. 23 No man could see his brother, and no man could leave his place for three days; but all the sons of Israel had light where they lived. 24 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses, and said, Go and serve Yehowah; but your flocks and your herds shall be left, though your children may go with you. 25 But Moses said, You must also place sacrifices and burnt-offerings in our hands, so that we can sacrifice to Yehowah our God. 26 Our cattle must also go with us; not a hoof shall be left behind, for we must take from them so as to serve Yehowah our God, and none of us knows what we must serve Yehowah with, until we get there. 27 But Yehowah made Pharaoh's heart obstinate, and he would not send them away. 28 And Pharaoh said to him, Get away from me; take care not to see my face any more; for on the day when you see my face you shall die. 29 And Moses said, Just as you say! I will never see your face again.
