EXODUS 30

You shall also make an altar on which to burn incense; you shall make it of acacia wood. 2 Its length shall be a cubit, and its breadth a cubit, it shall be square; and its height shall be two cubits; its horns shall be part of it. 3 Then you shall overlay it with pure gold, its top, its sides all round, and its horns; and you shall make a rim of gold all round it. 4 And you shall make for it two rings of gold under the rim on its two ribs; you shall make them on its two sides; and they shall be housings for the poles by which to carry it. 5 And you shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. 6 Then you shall put it before the veil which is by the ark of the Testimony, before the mercy-seat which is on the Testimony, where I will meet with you. 7 And Aaron shall burn incense of fragrant spices on it; every morning when he trims the lamps he shall burn it; 8 and when Aaron lights the lamps when night has fallen he shall burn it as a perpetual incense before Yehowah throughout your generations. 9 You must not offer unholy incense on it, nor burnt-offerings or grain-offerings; nor may you pour any drink-offerings on it. 10 And Aaron shall make a reconciliation on its horns once a year; with the blood of the sin-offering of reconciliation he shall make a reconciliation on it once a year throughout your generations; it is most holy to Yehowah.

11 Then Yehowah spoke to Moses, and said, 12 When you take a census of the sons of Israel of those who are to be numbered, every man shall give a ransom for his life to Yehowah, when you number them; so that there shall be no plague among them when you number them. 13 Every one who passes over to those who are numbered shall give half a shekel, according to the shekel of the sanctuary (a shekel is twenty gerahs); half a shekel shall be the offering to Yehowah. 14 Every one who passes over to those who are numbered, of twenty years of age and over, shall give the offering of Yehowah. 15 The rich shall not give more and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when you give the offering of Yehowah to make a reconciliation for yourselves. 16 And you shall take the silver of reconciliation from the sons of Israel, and give it for the services of the tent of meeting; and to the sons of Israel it shall be as a remembrance before Yehowah, to make a reconciliation for yourselves.

17 Then Yehowah spoke to Moses, and said, 18 You shall also make a layer of bronze, with a bronze base, for washing in; and you shall put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water into it. 19 And Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and feet in it; 20 when they go into the tent of meeting they shall wash in water, or else they will die; and also when they approach the altar to minister, to burn a fire-offering to Yehowah. 21 And they shall wash their hands and feet, or else they will die; and it shall be a statute for ever to them, to Aaron and to his descendants throughout their generations.

22 And Yehowah spoke to Moses, and said, 23 Now select the choicest of spices: fine myrrh, five hundred shekels; fragrant cinnamon, half as much, two hundred and fifty; fragrant calamus, two hundred and fifty; 24 and cassia, five hundred, according to the shekel of the sanctuary; and a hin of olive oil; 25 and make from them a sacred anointing oil, a compounded ointment, the work of a perfumer; it shall be the sacred anointing oil. 26 And with it you shall anoint the tent of meeting, the ark of the Testimony, 27 the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and its utensils, the altar of incense, 28 the altar of burnt-offering and all its utensils, and the layer and its base. 29 And you shall sanctify them, so that they become most holy; everyone who touches them shall become holy. 30 And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and sanctify them as priests to me. 31 And you shall speak to the sons of Israel, and say, This shall be my sacred anointing oil throughout your generations. 32 It shall not be poured on any man's body, nor shall you make any like it, of the same composition; it is sacred, it shall be sacred to you. 33 Whoever compounds any like it, or puts any of it on an outsider, shall be cut off from his people.

34 And Yehowah said to Moses, Select spices: stacte, onycha, and galbanum; spices with pure frankincense, in equal portions; 35 and make incense with it, an ointment like the work of a perfumer, salted, pure, sacred. 36 And pound some of it very small, and put some of it before the Testimony in the tent of meeting, where I shall meet with you; it shall be most sacred to you. 37 But you shall not make any incense of the same composition for your own use; it shall be sacred to you for Yehowah. 38 Whoever makes any like it for the sake of its odour shall be cut off from his people.
